Tennis tips: the best defensive lob

What can you do when an opponent comes to the net
after hitting the ball deep into the backhand or
forehand court?

One option is to lob the ball to the opposite back corner
so you are using the diagonal of the court. This increases
your margin for error as the diagonal is the longest part
of the court.

Also, your opponent will typically approach the net by
going to the same side to which they have hit their
approach shot. This makes it even harder for them
to retrieve the ball that you have lobbed across the
diagonal to the other side.
